Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens

The Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens (CGBG) mission is to provide education, public outreach, and applied research in horticultural and environmental sciences.

We strive to provide, practical community classes, inspiring and dynamic school programs and spectacular plant collections that educate visitors to the many roles that plants play in our lives.

The Garden is a top Savannah attraction that serves as a museum of plants, a tranquil escape, a living classroom, and an impressive, historic venue for special events for more than 100,000 annual visitors.

Located 10 miles southwest of historic downtown Savannah, CGBG is also 19 miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean. It is in USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 8b, with an annual average minimum temperature of 15 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

Fort Pulaski National Monument

Fort Pulaski is located on Cockspur Island between Savannah and Tybee Island at the mouth of the Savannah River.  Built in 1829, it is part of the third system of coastal fortifications.  On April 10, 1862 it came under attack by Union forces.  Today you can tour the fort and walk the grounds along trails that wind through the forest, beside the marsh and to the Savannah River.

Wormsloe State Historic Site

Wormsloe is the site of Georgia’s oldest plantation.  Built in the mid-1700s by Noble Jones, one of Georgia’s original settlers.  The site comprises over 800 acres of trails, the tabby ruins of the plantation house and a Colonial Life exhibition area.

Bonaventure Cemetery

Bonaventure Historical Society was created in 1992 by a retired Savannah school teacher and several of his friends. Our mission has always been the preservation and conservation of Savannah’s historic Bonaventure Cemetery. To help accomplish this, our dedicated volunteers host our Visitors Center every weekend and give free, guided tours each month.

Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum and Garden

The William Scarborough House and Gardens exhibits ship models, paintings and maritime antiques, principally from the great Era of Atlantic trade during the 18th and 19th centuries.  The home was designed and built in 1819 by 27-year-old William Jay for William Scarborough.
